In the mornin' it was rainin'
all the leaves hung, they were strainin'.
I just stood there and watched as you walked away.

Thought I'd hear your sweet voice callin',
regrets like teardrops fallin',
your footfall my dear friend
runnin' back again.

But in the mornin' it was rainin'
and I just stood there and watched as you walked away.

If I knew what was on your mind,
or have I drifted too far behind.
I love you still, and if it matters,
I always will.

But, times a teacher, resounding preacher,
echoes every time it rains.
I lost everything when you walked away.

In the mornin' it was rainin',
all the leaves hung, they were strainin'
And I just stood there and watched as you walked away

Not a single word was spoken,
sunk way too deep in emotion.
Given the chance now I would
Say every lovin' thing I should.

But, times a river, a shattered mirror
like your image in the rain.
And I lost everything when you walked away.
You took everything when you walked away.
I lost it all that day.
